Falling from the skies
Like diamond sparkles
Rolling into rivulets
Drumming on rooftops
Swimming in the gulley
Dancing rejoicing
Lovely drops of water
Hitting the pavement
Bruised and battered
Dirtied, muddied, soiled
Falling in gutters
Like forgotten spatter
Lying lifeless
Lonely drops of water
I see the rain and it brightens up my day
Because after getting wet I can
Go home, change and get snug
I see the rain as bounty
Gift from God
The poor abandoned child
In her tarpaulin home
Fears the downpour
Will it drown her home today?
She will have to sleep on the wet ground
In her damp clothes
The raindrops
Dance and rejoice for me
But their dance instills fear
In the girl on the street
